Refined Architectural Addition

This project involved the extension of an existing elegant dwelling to create a substantial new living space, designed to strengthen the relationship between the main house, its leisure spaces and the surrounding rural setting. The extension provides a generous new living room which connects directly with a dedicated games room and private garage, with additional accommodation introduced at first-floor level. The arrangement creates a series of flexible, interconnected spaces while allowing the new accommodation to feel integrated with the existing home. A carefully considered material palette was used to ensure the extension sits comfortably alongside the original dwelling. Buff brickwork reflects the tone and character of the existing property, while areas of dark cladding introduce a more contemporary, rural character. The cladding also draws reference from agricultural buildings within the surrounding Green Belt landscape, helping the enlarged property respond naturally to its countryside context. Large areas of glazing bring natural light into the new living spaces and create strong visual connections with the garden and wider landscape. The result is a substantial but carefully composed extension that adds modern living and leisure space while remaining sympathetic to both the existing house and its rural setting.
