London Micro Brewery
Securing planning permission for an independent microbrewery and taproom within Brixton's established mixed-use character.

From Commercial Premises to Craft Brewery: A New Chapter for Brixton
Located in Brixton, within the London Borough of Lambeth, this project involved securing planning permission for the change of use of an existing commercial premises to establish a new independent microbrewery and taproom. The proposal sought to transform the existing premises into a working brewery, combining on-site production with a welcoming taproom where customers could enjoy locally brewed craft pale ale's. One of the principal planning challenges was introducing the proposed use within an established mixed-use neighbourhood, characterised by a combination of commercial and residential properties. Particular consideration was required to ensure that the brewery operations and associated customer activity could coexist with neighbouring uses without adversely affecting residential amenity. The introduction of a public taproom presented an additional planning challenge, particularly in relation to potential noise, disturbance and the wider implications of customers consuming alcohol on the premises. Through a carefully considered planning strategy, we successfully demonstrated that the proposed use was appropriate for its location and could operate in a manner compatible with the surrounding area. Planning permission was subsequently granted, enabling the transformation of the premises into Dogs Grandad Brewery & Taproom, bringing a distinctive independent business to Brixton's vibrant commercial and hospitality scene.
