Glazed Perfection

This project involved the comprehensive renovation and extension of an existing character property, creating a more open, light-filled home while carefully retaining the architectural qualities of the original building. At the rear, a contemporary glazed extension was introduced to create a stronger connection between the internal living spaces and the garden. Large areas of glazing maximise natural light and provide uninterrupted views across the landscaped garden, while the clean, modern detailing creates a deliberate contrast with the traditional character of the existing house. The wider renovation brought together the existing and new spaces to create a more cohesive family home, with improvements to the internal layout, finishes and relationship between the principal living areas. Externally, the restrained material palette of render, detailing and glazing complements the original property without competing with it. The result is a sensitive transformation that combines the character of the existing house with a contemporary approach to space, light and indoor-outdoor living.
