Introducing Young & You
Businesses evolve over time. The projects change, the team develops, the way you work becomes more refined and eventually, the identity you started with may no longer fully represent the practice you have become.
For us, that point had arrived.
After many years operating as LPS Architecture, we are pleased to introduce Young & You — a new identity for our architectural and planning consultancy and one that we believe better reflects both the practice we are today and the direction in which we are heading.
This is much more than a change of name or logo. It represents the next stage in the development of the practice, bringing together our experience in architecture and planning within a clearer, more contemporary identity.
Why We Decided to Rebrand
As the practice has developed, so too has the range, quality and scale of the projects we work on.
Our portfolio now spans residential, commercial and agricultural projects, from carefully considered extensions and alterations to new homes, replacement dwellings, development projects and more complex planning-led schemes.
Over time, we felt that the existing LPS Architecture brand no longer fully reflected that progression.
One of the principal reasons for creating Young & You was therefore to establish an identity that allowed us to better showcase the work we have completed and the type of projects we are increasingly involved with.
Architecture is an inherently visual profession and the way a completed project is photographed, presented and communicated is an important part of telling its story. Our new website and visual identity have been designed around that principle, allowing our projects to take a much more prominent role.
At the same time, the rebrand gave us an opportunity to look more broadly at how we describe what we do, how we work with clients and how architecture and planning come together within the practice.
Why Young & You?
The name has a very deliberate meaning.
Young comes from the surname shared by the directors of the practice and provides a direct connection with the people behind the business.
The You is equally important.
Successful architectural projects are collaborative. However strong an initial design idea may be, a project ultimately needs to respond to the ambitions, priorities and circumstances of the people who will use the building.
The name Young & You reflects that relationship.
It represents our architectural and planning expertise combined with our clients ideas, aspirations and knowledge of how they want their buildings and spaces to work.
Rather than approaching projects with a predetermined architectural style, we believe good design comes from understanding the site, the planning context, the brief and the people behind the project and then bringing those elements together to create the right response.
That collaborative approach has always been part of how we work. The new name simply gives it a clearer identity.
Architecture and Planning Together
Although architecture remains a fundamental part of what we do, Young & You is an architectural and planning consultancy practice.
That distinction is important.
Planning considerations can have a significant influence on a project long before an application is submitted. Matters such as local character, heritage, landscape, Green Belt, neighbouring amenity, development plan policy and national planning policy can all influence the scale, form and design of a proposal.
Bringing architectural design and professional planning expertise together within the same practice allows those considerations to be explored from the outset.
Rather than developing a design in isolation and considering planning later, we can approach the two together.
For some projects, that may mean establishing a planning strategy before detailed design work begins. For others, it may involve using design to respond directly to a particular planning constraint or opportunity.
It is an approach that has developed naturally within the practice and one that Young & You is intended to represent more clearly.
A New Visual Identity
Alongside the new name, we have introduced a completely new visual identity.
The previous LPS Architecture branding has been replaced by a much cleaner and more contemporary identity centred around the Young & You wordmark and YY symbol, supported by a restrained palette of deep blue and muted green.
The intention was not to create something overly architectural or complicated, but instead to develop an identity that feels confident, simple and adaptable, allowing the architecture itself to remain the focus.
That same approach has carried through to our new website.
Projects now sit much more prominently within the site, with larger imagery and a greater emphasis on completed photography, architectural visualisations and the stories behind individual schemes.
It also gives us a better platform for sharing our thoughts on architecture, planning and the development process through our Journal.
The Same Practice Behind the New Identity
While the way we present the practice has changed considerably, the fundamentals behind it have not.
Young & You has the same team, same ownership and same professional standards as LPS Architecture.
Existing clients will therefore continue working with the same people, while ongoing projects and appointments continue unaffected.
The rebrand is not about becoming a different business. It is about creating an identity that better represents the business that LPS Architecture had already evolved into.
Our approach remains centred around providing considered architectural design, informed planning advice and practical guidance throughout the development process.
A Broader Range of Projects
Young & You will continue to work across the residential, commercial and agricultural sectors.
Within residential architecture, this includes extensions and major alterations, bespoke new homes, replacement dwellings and residential development projects.
We also continue to work on commercial buildings, community projects, changes of use and agricultural and rural development, alongside planning-led projects where our involvement may begin with site feasibility or planning strategy.
The scale and nature of those projects can vary considerably, but our approach remains consistent: understand the brief, understand the site and its constraints, and establish the right strategy before developing the design.
Looking Forward
Rebranding a long-established practice inevitably involves looking backwards as well as forwards.
LPS Architecture has been responsible for a substantial body of work and has allowed the practice to build the experience, client relationships and professional expertise that Young & You now takes forward.
The new identity does not move away from that history. It builds upon it.
Young & You gives us a clearer way of representing who we are today: an architectural and planning consultancy working collaboratively with clients to deliver considered projects across residential, commercial and agricultural sectors.
It also provides a platform that can continue to evolve with us.
For us, that is ultimately what the rebrand represents.
The same practice and the same people, with a clearer identity for the next chapter.
